There are 12 hours in a day

By Pastor Samuel OBAFAIYE,

Text:John 11:9 – Jesus  answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
The earth rotates on its axis giving rise to our day and night. It’s complete a circle in 24 hours given rise to a 24 hours time we operate, 12 hours in the day and 12 hours in the night. Which is 6am-6pm been day, and 6pm-6am been night. Every hour representing an hour within the day and within the night.

In Israel however, there is a slight difference. It is still 6am-6pm daytime and 6pm-6am night time. But the counting of each hour differs.
6am-8am – 1st hour
8am-9am – 2nd hour
9am-10am – 3rd hour
10-am-11am – 4th hour
11am-12noon – 5th hour
12noon-1pm – 6th hour
13pm-14pm – 7th hour
14pm-15pm – 8th hour
15pm-16pm – 9th hour
16pm-17pm – 10th hour
17pm-18pm – 11hour
18pm – 12hour

Figuratively, God has given each one of us a 12 hour daytime to work with. Whether we like it or not, we have all eaten into that 12 hour period at varying percentages.

For example, if God has given a fellow 80 calendar years to be their 12 hour day period.
When they are 40 years, they are left with about 6 hours. How will you like to spend your last 6 hours on earth?

What have you done with the percentage of 12 hours of your life that you have lived?
More importantly, what do you want to do with the percentage that is left?

Out of the 12 hours of the life days that you have been given, God has arranged that you will spend some life seconds, minutes or hours in Leeds. How effective, efficient and rewarding will your time in Leeds be?

Esau in the bible taught one can eat his cake and yet have it. He told his brother Jacob to give him pottage to eat and in turn become the senior, when he needed the seniority back, it was too late (Heb. 12:16-17).
Hebrews 12:16-17
Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected:for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

We need to redeem the time we have lost by using the time we have left wisely.

Ephesians 5:16
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Proverbs 9:11
For by wisdom thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

There are 12 hours in the day. How many do you have left? How will you use them? May God help us in Jesus name.

Prayers
Father, teach me to number my days and apply wisdom to use them well.
