Text: 1 Peter 2:4-5; 9-10 (NLT)
WE are living stones, a spiritual house, a holy priesthood called to offer spiritual sacrifices to God by Jesus Christ. We are God’s very own possession!
Jesus is the price paid for sin. God became man to die for man. That was God’s perfect plan – man to save man. But not just any man, God in man. The word became flesh and dwelt among us. John 1:14. Jesus ate, slept and was hungry. He was tempted because He was man spirit, soul and body!
Because Jesus has paid the price for sin, we can show forth the goodness of God because He has called us out of darkness into His marvellous light. 1 Peter 2:9-10.
Jesus through His death, burial, resurrection and ascension has given us access to the Father! We can now come boldly to the throne of Grace (Hebrews 4:14 – 16).
So unlike the Old Testament when only the High Priest had access to the Holiest of all once a year, right now, all believers have access to God the Father! We can call on Him at any time for any of our needs.
Therefore, all believers can exercise the authority we have in the exalted name of Jesus to speak to every situation that confronts us. Philippians 2: 5-11, Mark 16:17, Luke 10:19.
Just as Peter knew that He had authority through the name of Jesus and He exercised that authority to heal a lame man in Acts 3:6-8, you can exercise your authority too in the name of Jesus because you are a chosen generation and God’s very own possession!!!
