Everyone desires that life should become better for them. Life is sweeter when things gets better. It is also the intention of God that life should progressively get better for His children. God wants our today to be better than yesterday, and our tomorrow to be better than today (Prov. 4:18).
While there might be challenges in this regard due to a number of factors, e.g. lack of knowledge of what to do to profit withal; nonchalant attitude to principles that yield better life; natural occurrences that bring setbacks; spiritual attacks from the kingdom of darkness; tests or trials from God; etc. But regardless of what a believer might face, if he/she is resolute and continues to demonstrate unwavering faith in God, all things shall still work in his/her favour (Rom. 8:28-30).
The life of Mordecai is a good example for us to relate to. His life depicted that of someone who God assisted to enjoy a better life. He was among the captives taken from Judah to Babylon. But even while sojourning in Persia, fortune still smiled on him. Though a foreigner, he was privileged to work at the king’s palace (Esther 2:5-6).
As a result of this position at the palace premises, he was opportune to obtain privileged informations which were beneficial to his life becoming better. It was from here that he heard of two close officers to the king who were plotting to assassinate the king, he was able to pass this information to the king. The coup was foiled, the king lived, but forgot to reward him at the time (Esther 2:21-23).
It was also at this duty post that he heard that the royal queen (Vashti) had committed an error and that the king was looking for a replacement for her. He was able to convince his cousin who was living with him (Esther) to enter into the competition (Esther 2:5-8).
It was also as a result of his position at the palace gate that he was able to form a close rapport with the king’s chief chamberlain (Hegai) who had studied the king for a long time. Hegai was the one who advised Esther how she should behave before the king, coupled with the favour of God, that earned Esther the crown royal (Esther 2:9-10, 15-18).
Though, Mordecai later faced an existential threat to his life and the whole Jewish race in the realm of King Xerxes (Esther 3:1-6). God miraculously turned the tide around for good for Mordecai and his people. The good deed he did for the King years before was later remembered and rewarded (Esther 6:1-12).
God humiliated his principal enemy – Hamaan to announce his decoration throughout the city. His life was spared miraculously and that of Hamaan was substituted instead (Esther 7:1-10). The Jews were also spared from the genocide planned for them (Esther 9:1-19).
In the end, Mordecai actually became the one ruling in the realm of King Xerxes kingdom, for the King gave Modecai his official ring to promulgate any decree such as he wanted, only in the throne was the King higher than Mordecai (Esther 10:1-3).
The same God that made life better for Mordecai in a foreign land is set to assist us in making our lives become better this year.
Jehovah will make good fortune to smile on us in 2025.
God will promote us to ‘sit’ at what can be referred to as ‘palace gates’.
The Lord will make sensitive and highly beneficial information to enter our ears, in order to make our lives become better.
The Lord will crush every existential threat facing us in a miraculous manner.
God will turn the tide around for our good. No matter what we now face, all things shall eventually work together for our good.
The Lord will use our adversaries to announce our decoration.
God will miraculously lift us to levels we would not have imagined possible and all the glory and honour shall be His alone.
May the Spirit of the Living God fulfil these and many more in our lives and in our midst in Jesus mighty name. Amen!
