Recalibrate can be defined as changing the way one does things or think about something. It can also be defined as to re-examine (one’s thinking, a plan, a system of values, etc) and correct it in accordance with a new understanding or purpose. Other words for recalibrate are: adjust, amend, change, develop, modify, reshape, revamp, revise, shift, transform, etc.
In Daniel 2:1-49, despite being warned by God through Daniel not to misbehave before Him, about a year later King Nebuchadnezzar boasted about his majesty, splendour and power over the realm of his domain, without acknowledging the sovereignty and supremacy of the Almighty God (Daniel 4:28-30). He demonstrated pride, one of the seven sins that God abhors the most (Prov. 6:16-19).
Due to this error of judgment, God pronounced a verdict upon his life. He was to leave the palace, lived among the beasts of the field for a season – a seven year period, after which his case would be reviewed by God (Daniel 4:31-33).
At the end of the time appointed, Nebuchadnezzar senses came back to him, he was privileged to enjoy a Divine assistance to recalibrate. He conducted a self appraisal, a personal reflection, a self examination and afterward concluded that he had misbehaved. He therefore made a quick and open confession of his new understanding, belief and new resolve that the Almighty God is above all (Daniel: 4:34-35).
Not only did Nebuchadnezzar senses returned to him, God ensured that his throne was kept for him, (at a time when even sons were killing their fathers to ascend their thrones). God also united the hearts of his counsellors and lords in one accord to look for him and enthroned him back. His glory, brightness and honour was restored. Excellent majesty was also added to his kingdom more than before (Daniel 4: 36-37).
It has been impressed upon my heart by God that this is a season for Everlasting Father’s Assembly to reminisce on the mercies of God from yesteryears, meditate on His goodness of today, and ponder on His promises of tomorrow very deeply.
As we commence the year 2025, we must come to a determination that we will improve from whatever state we are now and approach our Father in Heaven to obtain mercy and find grace to help us in this time of need (Heb. 4:16).
We must individually and collectively identify any past mistake(s) we might have made in the year before, and make necessary adjustments. We must be prepared to do things this year only as God demands. We must render all thanks and praises to God for all of our achievements of years before now. We must acknowledge and appreciate what God is doing in our lives today. We must also put our unwavering faith and absolute trust in Him for the journey ahead of us this year.
Our Heavenly Father’s arms are already opened to bestow special treatment on us in 2025. Our confessed mistakes will be pardoned. God will announce our transformation to the world. The hosts of heaven will rejoice at what God is turning us into. The people on earth will come to celebrate with us. Those who are not happy with what God is doing for us will grope and languish in darkness. We shall in this year bask in the glory and honour of our Father. Excellence and splendour shall be added to us this year by God more than ever before. All our past suffering and pain shall fade away. Our lives shall take a new dimension for the better in Jesus mighty name.
May the Spirit of God perform all these and many more in our lives and in our midst in Jesus most precious name. Amen!
