The Faith That Makes Whole, by Pastor (Mrs) Anthonia Obafaiye

Text: Matthew 15:22-28

Here we find an account of a very remarkable woman I must say, some Bible versions referred to her as the Greek woman, the Syrophoenician woman, or a woman from Canaan. She was not a Hebrew woman but she was a gentile, she had heard about Jesus, the Son of the Most High God, the Son of David, the Saviour, the Deliverer, the Great Healer, the Help of the Helpless, the Lord of Host, the Solution Carrier, the Burden Bearer, The Alpha & the Omega, the Beginning & the End, the Everlasting Father, the One that has never lost a battle before. Brethren that same Jesus is here today in our midst and He has come to bless us in Jesus name.

I know she knew the Lord because when she got to where Jesus and His disciples were, she cried out to the Lord, she called Him by His name, O Lord, thou Son of David, have mercy upon me for my daughter is grievously vexed with the devil. (Romans 10:17).

Hebrew 11:6 makes us to understand that without faith it is impossible to please God, for whomsoever cometh to Him, must believe that He is and He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek him.

I have come to announce to someone here today that just like every product in shops has a shelf life & expiring date every problem has an expiring date, the Bible says in Proverbs 23:18 ‘surely there is an end to everything and the expectations of the righteous shall not be cut off’.

All your expectations of the Lord will not be cut off in Jesus name.

Luke 1:45 says: ‘And blessed is she that believed, for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord’. Expectation is the mother of manifestation.

Today we will be considering the characteristics of this woman’s faith, in other word’s what moved Jesus to recognise that this woman had a great faith.

The Bible makes us to understand that if we have faith as small as a mustard seed, mountains before us will move (Matthew 17:20).

  • She knew the Lord Jesus; even though she was not a Hebrew woman (a born-again Christian as it were in our present day) she also believed He could make her daughter whole. The story of Rehab, she said to Joshua & the spies, ‘the fear of your God has fallen upon us, because we have heard how He dealt with your enemies the Egyptians, how He drown them in the Red Sea, we know He has given you this city, but please promise me that you will spare I and my household because I have showed you kindness’) Joshua 2:9-14

  • She went to the right person, she sought help from the Creator Himself (the manufacturers manual) the solution carrier, the help of the helpless.

  • She went straight to the point of the reason why she sought Jesus. She did not beat about the bush, or tell long stories. She was in the right place at the right time. The Bible says that Jesus departed into the coasts of Tyre & Sidon, just maybe he came because of that woman, and maybe he is passing by the Land of mercy because of someone here today.

  • She was persistent in her asking, she was not put off, even when Jesus referred to her as a dog. Even when Jesus told her that her time had not come yet, she was still persistent, her faith was able to move Jesus to go into time and He fast forwarded the time, so her daughter would be made whole.

  • Her faith was mixed with praise & worship. Psalm 100: 4 ‘Enter into his gates with thanking signing and His courts with praise, be thankful unto him and bless His name.

Brethren, I don’t know what you might be going through, but I bring a word to encourage you today, please don’t give up on your dreams, don’t give up on that child, or marriage, business, or course work, help is on the way for you, the Good Lord is sending help to you from Zion, He has seen your tears, He has had your prayers, he has accepted your burnt offerings concerning these issues you are going through. He will roll away your reproach amongst men in Jesus name.

That’s what the love of a Mother can do, it does not matter how far, or how difficult the journey is, a Mother would go to the end of the earth just to make sure that her children are ok.

May our faith in God bring wholeness to every area of your lives in Jesus name.

Prayers

Prayers: Father in the name of Jesus strengthen my faith in you.

Father the grace to be thankful at all times, make available to me.

Father let every area of my life receive your wholeness.
