Rebuilding can be defined as building again or to build again. It can also be defined as to make extensive structural repairs on, to remodel or make extensive changes in. It can mean to restore to a previous state. To reconstruct. To make important repairs to or changes in something.
When such repairs, remodelling, or extensive changes are made or enabled by God, it can be termed as Divinely assisted rebuilding.
Other words for rebuilding are rehabilitating, restoring, overhauling, refurbishing, reviving, regenerating, renovating, modifying, fixing, etc.
There are essentially two factors that can make a building to last for a long time. The first factor is the quality of the erected structure when it is being built. The second factor is the kind of maintenance regime that was put in place to look after the edifice afterwards.
The first main temple in Israel was built by King Solomon. It was a magnificent structure. It was built with high quality materials and decorated with expensive ornaments. It was a pride of Israel in the eyes of other nations. People came from around the world to have a look at the structure (I Kgs. 10:1-5). King Solomon spent seven years to build this temple. It was still in very good condition after 400 years, when King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon ordered it to be destroyed in 587 BCE.
When the 70 years of the Israelites captivity in Babylon was over, God raised men who were instrumental to the rebuilding of the temple (the second temple). While men like Governor Zerubbabel and High Priest Joshua were instrumental to the rebuilding of the temple, men like Governor Nehemiah and Ezra the Scribe were instrumental to the rebuilding of the walls and gates of Jerusalem (Zechariah 4:8-10; Neh. 6:15-16).
God even used heathen kings to assist in the rebuilding works. King Cyrus assisted with the rebuilding of the temple (Ezra 1:1-11), and king Xerxes assisted with the rebuilding of the city walls and gates (Neh. 2:1-9).
The rebuilt temple and walls served for another 600 years until the Romans came with their destructive force and destroyed the second temple in 70AD. God has however promised His people that the temple shall again be rebuilt in the future (Isaiah 2:1-4).
It was God that laid the foundations of Everlasting Father’s Assembly as a church and erected our ‘structure’ over 18 years ago. Overtime, God has continued to supervise the maintenance and the rebuilding works in His church.
God has been gracious to us to amend and repair every structural defects ever since. Whether such damages were due to wear and tear of time, or due to intentional or accidental damages done by spirits or human beings.
The promise of God to Everlasting Father’s Assembly today is that we are in a season of rebuilding. Any ‘dent’ we have sustained will be fixed by God. Any ‘damage’ we have suffered will be repaired by God. Any ‘defect’ we have encountered will be refurbished by God. Any ‘lost’ we have experienced will be restored by God. Any ‘shortage’ we have gone through will be re-stocked by God.
God has promised to overhaul our Assembly in this season. He will revive us again. He will renovate us anew. He will grant us regeneration of our expended resources. May the zeal of El-Elohe-Israel perform all these and much more in our lives and in our midst in Jesus mighty name.
