Perfection is the state of being complete and correct in every way. It can be said to be the highest degree of proficiency, skill, or excellence. Other words for perfection are: importance, flawlessness, superbness, impeccability, faultlessness, distinction, excellence, etc.
God wants our lives to be perfect. He wants us to live a perfect life. He also expects a life of perfection from us (Genesis 17:1; Matthew 5:48).
Not only does God expect perfection from us. It is His desire that we enjoy a perfect life also (Jeremiah 29:11; 3 John 1:2). Most of the time though, the life of many believers do not resemble the perfection that God desires for us. We are either lacking in one thing or the other.
Abraham was a child and friend of God. He was chosen by God to start the Jewish race. As most men, he started his walk with God gradually. His reliance on God to leave his homeland and proceed to a land which God promised to show and give him was very remarkable. There were however times when he made mistakes like any mortal.
At a point in Abraham’s walk with God, God had to admonish him to walk before Him and be perfect or blameless. This was necessary so that all the promises and blessings that God had made to him would be fulfilled (Gen. 17:1-2).
From this point onwards, God assisted Abraham to walk with Him in perfection, so that the blessings promised to him was fulfilled. Abraham could have suffered a terrible loss in Gen. 20:1-18, but by Divine assistance, God averted it.
Abraham trusted solely in the Almighty God afterwards for his protection (Gen. 15:1), for his provision (Gen. 14:21-24), for his deliverance (Gen. 22:5-8), for his fruitfulness (Gen. 18:9-14; Rom. 4:19-22), for his victory (Gen. 14:13-16), and for his continuity (Heb. 11:17-18). He did not only become a man of faith, but he became the father of faith (Rom. 4:23-18; Gal. 3:6-9).
As we enter the seventh month of this year, the promise of God to us is that He will Divinely assist us to obtain, retain and enjoy perfection. God will make us successful in our endeavours. He will help us to achieve excellence. He will grant unto us what we did not qualify for. He will bless us with a touch of distinction with our understanding. He will eradicate our flaws. He will showcase us as impeccable vessels in His hands. The Lord will help us to walk before Him and be blameless. Any mistake we are making or errors we have made will be Divinely adjusted by God. The promises and blessings that God has made concerning us prior to this time shall be fulfilled by the power and the mercies of God. So shall it be in Jesus most precious name.
