October 2014 Theme – Revisiting Foundation
Text: Prov. 22:28
The foundation is about the most important part of a building. Any mistake made in the foundation has to be sorted out or it will compound as the construction continues (Psalm 11:3).
The strength and stability of a building is also based on the depth of its foundation and the materials used (I Cor. 3:11-15).
The terrain or the kind of ground a foundation is erected upon will also affect the longevity of the structure it carries (Mt. 7:24-27).
In the end, to have a lasting and solid structure, emphasis is to be given to the foundation the house will stay upon.
As Christians, our lives are like buildings. We are built on Christ which is the sure Foundation. As buildings are subjected to effects of physical and human elements, so also is our lives are subject to physical, human and supernatural elements. There is the need to revisit our foundation so as to withstand any attacking force.
There are certain cornerstones that form the basis of Christian living; we are admonished to make sure that these are not removed.
King Solomon was someone God loved from childhood. He began to walk in the step of his father – David. Not too long afterwards, he removed the foundation or the landmark his father had set and fell out with God (I Kings 11:1-11).
In this month of October, as individuals and a church, we must seek to revisit our foundation in Jesus our Lord. May God entrench our lives deeper in Him in Jesus name.
