The Love of God (2 Cor 13:14), by Revd Alexander Faranpojo

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost be with you all. Amen.

After being born again, we see from God’s word that the next most important thing for the believer is knowledge. Knowledge is key to our success in life. In fact, the Word of God says that ‘grace and peace is multiplied through knowledge…’. 2 Pet.1:2. It also says that ‘my people are destroyed because of lack of knowledge’. Hos. 4:6.

The believer will have experiences void of the grace of God to the degree of His knowledge or ignorance. Our quest to know, not just for knowing, but for appropriation must be insatiable. We must seek to know among many things the knowledge of God’s will for our lives in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Col.1:9.

In our opening text, we also see areas of life we ought to pursue to have knowledge about. For a man’s strength and exploits in his life is tied to the amount of knowledge he (the man) has on that subject. Dan.11:32.

So, what do you know about the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ? The love of God. And the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit? These are areas that will enrich our Christian experience and multiply our testimonies of victories in Christ Jesus. Amen!

But today and briefly, we would be considering the centrality of The Love of God.

God’s Love is at the centre of the text scripture for a purpose. Like scriptures tells us that anything short of love is too short for a testimony. Cf. 1 Cor.13:1-end.

In Rom. 8:38, God’s Word further defines that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Nothing will separate you from God’s Love in Jesus name. Amen!

Love by itself is expressed sanely in three common elements.

  1. Love gives.

2. Love Forgives.

3. Love sacrifices.

Love Gives

As lovers of God, we must learn to cheerful givers. For God loves a cheerful giver. 2Cor.9:7. There should be no withholding back. Especially from God who gave us His all as an investment and hopes to reap our love for Him soon. 1John4:19. We must respond to the love of God but also giving our love to Him and humanity. The Bible also confirms that you cannot love a God you don’t see if you can’t love the human beings you see.

Love Forgives

We must learn to forgive ourselves, others and God as the case may be at times. We must learn to make loving excuses for people we love. And sometimes this may include God. Especially in times when you don’t quite like the turn of events. You must walk consciously of the scriptures that says, ‘All things work together for the good of them that love God…and are the called according to His purpose’. Rom8:28.

Love Sacrifices

As believers, we are urged in Rom.12:1-2. To sacrifice our will, our   Bodies, and our appetites. This is an important aspect of Christianity. That it is not done or built on conveniences but on commitment. What have you or will you sacrifice to God, yourself and others whom you ought to love.

It is our prayer that God will open our understanding some more in the application of this glorious truth and subject of love.

As it is written, But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Cor.2:9.

Confessions of Faith: I am born of God. I overcome the world. I am enriched in the knowledge of God’s will for my life, His grace, His Fellowship and His love for my life. I am blessed in Jesus name. Amen!

Be blessed in Jesus name. Till we read next time. Please Remain God’s Pride! Amen!
