Knowledge of the Glory of God, by Apostle I.D Lawon
Bible Text: Habakkuk 2:14 – “For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea”.
Testimony is prophecy when you testify, something anew happens and it is a prophecy to people around you. I trust God that God who is good will be good to you in Jesus name and will open the eyes of your understanding today in Jesus name.
May we be that generation that will make the glory of God cover the earth as the waters covers the seas
Habakkuk 2 Vs. 14- “the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord’
2 Corinthians 4:4-6…. “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”[a] made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ”
What light is God shining? God is shining through the face of Jesus so we may be able to have the knowledge of the glory of God.
Note Romans 3:23 “ for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”. As we share the word may we have an increase light today in Jesus name. Colossians 1:24-27
“Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.25 I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness— 26 the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people. 27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory”.
The text we have read so far explains the context of knowledge in the life of a person, how sometimes we suffer because we do not know and then sometimes we suffer to know. The actual is that for a person to suffer for something it means that something is for something, there is something to benefit.
The verse Vs 26 of Colossians 1 , the Apostle explains…So he says that what he suffered for have been hidden before he became a Minister. In this context; if we are thinking about generation, we think about the generation of Abraham, Isaac, Moses, Joshua, Elijah, Elisha, Isaiah, Jeremiah and the likes
Vs.27 “to whom God will make known what is the mystery of his glory…”
This is the mystery of the gospel “Christ in me the hope of glory” if we have the knowledge of that glory, many problems will be solved, many troubles resolved.
What is knowledge? It is sense and sight, when Habakkuk and Paul talked about knowledge of the glory of God ; they referred to its necessity and “to know”. We need to have the knowledge, if we do not have the knowledge we will keep on doing wrong in the particular aspects we lack knowledge in.
Genesis 28:17- the Bible talks about Judah, Judah son had died and he was suppose to give the daughter in law to someone else, the lady pretended like a harlot and slept with her father –in law; ignorantly Judah gave the lady his signet and rod as payment and he was caught in a web, Ignorance …!!! Ignorance limits our freedom, knowledge gives liberty to act.
Freedom of action means authority, when we do not have freedom of action, when we do not have knowledge of the glory of God, we are then limited in our asking and what we expect from God. Ignorance reduces confidence, it takes away our confidence, when we can act in confidence our faith is influenced; that is where the believer has a problem. The lack of knowledge will be eliminated today in Jesus name when the Almighty opens our eyes and reveals hidden things to us. When we do not have certain kinds of knowledge like Revelational knowledge, we lack confidence but when God reveals certain things to us about ourselves , it gives bright ideas and builds confidence. The knowledge of the glory of God is what we stress this morning. The world is waiting for the knowledge of the glory of God to e manifested .
Exodus 6: 2- “…And God said to Moses but by my name Jehovah was I not known to them” God was explaining to Moses that Abraham , Isaac and Jacob knew him with particular names but there are some parts of Him they do not know, which He was ready to reveal to Moses and the generation as at then.
In Jeremiah 1: 11- 12. The word of the Lord came to me: “What do you see, Jeremiah? I see the branch of an almond tree,” I replied.
Vs. 12- The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching[a] to see that my word is fulfilled.”
I have been wondering what is the relationship between an almond tree and God hastening His word until I had the knowledge that an Almond tree is a time keeper.
The knowledge of the glory of God in the context of cloud is mentioned about 23 times in the Bible, regarding healing 14, miracles about 11 times . When one join healing and miracles together you come to about 30times most mentioned translations or interpretations of the glory of God in the Bible. That is the glory of God relates to God manifesting power in miracles and healing in various lives today. Please note that as Christians we first of all carry the glory of God before our various profession, with the glory of God , people can see us differently both at our place of work and everywhere we go. I pray that Isaiah 60 will manifest in our lives as we close today.
We are always expecting that people will pray for us after been in church for 4-5years. Do you know Jesus heals either by prayer or no prayer just as His presence heals people. With Reference to Matthew 5 the woman with the issue of blood that touched Jesus and was made whole. She had an understanding of the knowledge of the glory of God , that energized her faith ; she had a Revelational Knowledge that if only she could touch the hem of His garment ; she would be made whole and she was made whole
Revelation knowledge creates faith that works. I pray that the words you have heard and read today creates faith in you that would manifest in healing and miracles and make you shine forth the glory of God in Jesus name.
