Overflow can be defined as when something is so full that the contents go over the sides. It can be spreading beyond the limits. It can be to flow or run over the top, brim or banks. It can be defined as to be filled beyond capacity. It can mean to have a boundless supply. It can also be defined as superabundance or having something in excess.
Simply put, blessing can be defined as God’s favour and protection. It can also mean a special favour, mercy or benefit. It can also be defined as a bestowal of Divine gifts or favour.
Overflowing blessings can therefore be defined as when the favour, protection, gift, mercy, benefits, etc upon a particular person or people runs over, is filled beyond limit and capacity; or has no bounds.
God has blessed men in biblical times and even up until now to a level of superabundance. Whenever God does this, He wants to deliberately convey certain messages. That He is El-Shaddai and the Jehovah Jireh. That He is more than enough. That there is more to where the blessings have come from. That He is the source that can never run dry (Gen. 22:13-14).
The first four patriarch of the bible were granted overflowing blessings by God. Abraham enjoyed overflowing blessings (Gen. 13:2; 24:35). Isaac enjoyed overflowing blessings (Gen. 26:12-14). Jacob enjoyed overflowing blessings (Gen. 30:25-43). Joseph also enjoyed overflowing blessings (Gen. 45:4-13).
The Israel race as a whole were granted overflowing blessings by God (Dt. 6:10-12). Even in the face of adverse persecution, overflowing blessings of God was still evident in their lives (Ex. 1:6-7, 12).
The Psalmist testified that he enjoyed a particular kind of overflowing blessing. The kind that was witnessed by his enemies who could not object to it (Psalm 23:5).
The bible also tells us that Apostle Peter enjoyed certain overflowing blessing after he had lost all hope of any harvest from his labour (Luke 5:1-11).
In this month of October and beyond, God has impressed it upon my spirit that He will grant us overflowing blessings. We will obtain gifts, favours, mercies, benefits, protection, fruitfulness, etc from God to the overflowing. The blessings of God upon us will have no limit. They will be boundless. They will be in superabundance and will be granted lavishly and in excess.
The blessings will be such that our enemies and adversaries will see and not be able to understand nor put up any contest.
The blessings shall indeed bring glory and honour to our God for its magnitude, to the extent that mankind will fear Him (Psalm 67:6-7). May we all be recipients of these overflowing blessings in Jesus mighty name.
