The Lord Has Risen Indeed, by Pastor Samuel Obafaiye

Indeed, can be defined as in fact; or in truth. It is used to lay emphasis, to confirm and amplify a previous statement. In this wise, indeed is amplifying or laying emphasis on the statement that The Lord Jesus has risen.

Other words that give the same meaning to indeed are easily, certainly, absolutely, surely, undoubtedly, undeniably, verily, amen, etc. the Lord has risen.

How did this statement come about?

Text: Luke 24:13-36

As Jesus was rounding up His ministry, he kept telling His apostles how He will be arrested, killed and rose again. First in parables and later plainly. Yet the disciples did not understand; and therefore, failed to grasp the resurrection message.

Mark 10:32-34

Jesus and his disciples were now on the road going up to Jerusalem. Jesus was going ahead of the disciples, who were filled with alarm; the people who followed behind were afraid. Once again Jesus took the twelve disciples aside and spoke of the things that were going to happen to him. “Listen,” he told them, “we are going up to Jerusalem where the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the teachers of the Law. They will condemn him to death and then hand him over to the Gentiles, who will make fun of him, spit on him, whip him, and kill him; but three days later he will rise to life.”

Mathew 12:40 – But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Mathew 16:21-23- From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

According to the resurrection account given by St. Luke; Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary mother of James, and other women went to the tomb of Jesus to put spices on His body on the 3rd day.

They find the stone at the mouth of the tomb rolled away; they entered the tomb and did not find the body of Jesus.

They became perplexed, wondering what had happened to Jesus body. They then saw 2 men in shining garment stood by them; and asked them why they were seeking the living among the dead. That Christ has risen; and that they should remember what He told them will happen. They then remembered; and went to inform the 11 apostles and the rest of the disciples, none, however, believed the women. Their words sounded like fiction/tales.

The bible says Apostles Peter went to the tomb himself to go and assess the situation; he saw only the burial clothes of Jesus inside the tomb, without His body. He went back home wondering what could have happened.

Luke then began to report how Jesus appeared to 2 other disciples travelling from Jerusalem to Emmaus (Cleopas and his friend). They thought Jesus was a stranger in town. Jesus asked them what they were talking about; they said it was about the talk of the moment. Jesus asked what that was. Then they said about Jesus Christ of Nazareth who they had hoped will redeem Israel from oppression; how He had been killed by the Jews; and how news just reaching them that His body is now missing just 3 days after His death.

Jesus then began to teach them from the scriptures about Himself, until they got to Emmaus (7 miles, 10 Kms). They persuaded Jesus to spend the night with them and He agreed. As they invited His to dinner, He blessed the bread and gave it to them to eat; it was then their eyes were opened and they knew it was Jesus.

They went straight back to Jerusalem and told the other disciples what had happened.

When they got to Jerusalem, they were confronted with the news that Christ has risen indeed. And that Peter has also seen Jesus.

How/Why did the disciples concluded that Jesus has risen indeed?

– The empty tomb. If there is any destiny here that is caged, you are loosed now in Jesus name.

– The Angel’s testimony. May God make a clear demarcation between your destiny and dead destinies. May your destiny live on. Your hope remains alive. Your dream remains active in Jesus name.

– Cleopas & friend testimony. May God demonstrate to you and mankind beyond all reasonable doubt that you are a miracle in His hands.

– Peter’s testimony. Though Luke did not capture this. This was like an icing on a cake. May God revive you indeed. Revive your life; your family; your career; your relationship; your love life; your finances; your health; your anatomy; your studying; all that pertains to you.

May God demonstrate in your life in many ways that Jesus is alive indeed.

May the resurrection of Jesus be more than a tale to you.

The Council of Bishop said they could not prove it, but since people of many generations believed the story, they should keep telling it and not abolish it.

May you have a personal encounter of it – Saul of Tarsus. May you enjoy the same experience.

Like no one can tell me Jesus birth, death and resurrection are just a story. The name of Jesus has saved me from death a few times. It will be hard for anyone to confuse or convince me otherwise. May God grant you a supernatural encounter of Jesus.

It surprised me that Cleopas and friends were supposed to just eat, sleep and possibly travel to Jerusalem in the morning. But no, they went straight back immediately.

May God give you testimony you cannot sleep over. A compelling testimony that you must share while it’s still hot.

Again, they had to travel on foot for another 20kms, to tell the story and come back, without feeling it.

May God grant you a miracle that will dwarf every effort you have put in or the stress you have gone through.

May the surety and evidence of the risen Saviour be seen upon you.

I decree in the name of Jesus; no grave will hold your destiny captive in Jesus name.

Every stone rolled against your rising are hereby removed.

Someone reading this, you are a rising star. The enemies are trying to cover you by every means. They have failed. They will continue to fail. Your destiny shall rise indeed.

May men, women and angels spread the news of your rising. May people broadcast your rising on your behalf.

Every evil garment used to tie you down are set ablaze now in Jesus name. Jesus commanded Lazarus onlookers to lose him, as no one wanted to come close. You are loosed in Jesus name. Go and fulfil your destiny.

Powers and principalities may have planned to kill your destiny. I cancel their plot in Jesus name. The power that raised Jesus from the dead destroyed their plans. You shall rise indeed.

Cleopas said they had hoped that Jesus would redeem Israel and set them free. That was exactly what Jesus came to do; first spiritually and then politically. They were expecting politically first.

Someone reading this, you had been hoping that Jesus would do something for you. He said it may not have happened yet, but He will do it.

May those who are looking for you among the dead be shocked and always be disappointed.

God says you will outlive them. They will not see your end. You will certainly see their end. Long after they have gone, you will still be standing.

May the glory of the resurrected Christ reflect on you.

Jesus told His disciples that He would be killed and that on the third day He will resurrect. Since this happened, what are other things did He tell them that should interest us?

He is the only way to the Father.

John 14:6 – Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

He is the only way to eternal life.

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

– Whoever believes in Him and died will rise again, and if he hadn’t died will live forever.

John 11:25-26 – Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

– Whoever do not believe in Him will spend eternity in Lake of Fire.

Rev. 20:12-15 – And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

– Every sacrifice we do in His name and the talents we use for Him will be rewarded.

Rev. 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

Lk. 19:12-26

Parable of talents.

Which of these do you believe? These are however true sayings of Christ. Whether one believes them or not; they shall happen indeed. How prepared are you for their occurrence? Today is the time to prepare. May we all reign with Him in Jesus name.

Prayers

I command every ailing organ in my body to come back to life.

I come against every spirit of death and grave aimed at my life.

I declare the supernatural restoration of everything I have lost in Jesus name.

I command every evil plantation in my life to be rooted up and be burnt in Jesus name.

Every negative deposit that may be in my body be ejected out in Jesus name.
