Psalm 92:1 – A Psalm or Song for the Sabbath day. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:
Psalm 33:1 – Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.
Psalm 147:1 – Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.
Why should we praise God? – 7 reasons
- For His mercy – Psalm 136:2 (O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.)
- For His goodness – I Chro. 16:34 (O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.)
- For His love – Psalm 107: 1 (O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever).
- It is the will of God for us – I Thes. 5:18 (In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you).
- For there is none like Him – Ex. 15:11, Psalm 86:8 (Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?)
- Nothing else we can offer – Psalm 51:15-16 (Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering).
- Life could be tougher – Psalm 124:1-3 (If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say; If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us: Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us):
When should we praise God?
At all times – Psalm 34:1 – I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
How should we praise Him?
In Spirit and truth – John 4:23-24
In the beauty of holiness – Psalm 96:9, 29:2
With an offering – Psalm 96:8, I Chro. 16:29
By bowing, in awe, in adoration, by kneeling, by falling down before him – Psalm 95:6, Rev 4: 10
Who should praise God?
Everything that has breath – Psalm 150:6
Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.
His Redeemed – Psalm 107:2
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
Where can one praise God?
Everywhere – I Tim. 2:8
I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
