The Son of God Who Became The Son of Man, by Pastor Samuel Obafaiye

The Son of God Who Became The Son of Man, by Pastor Samuel Obafaiye

After the disobedience of Adam Eve in the Garden of Eden; God promised and proclaimed that the Seed of the Woman will later do justice to the serpent – the Devil that deceived the first Man and Woman to commit sin (Gen 3:15).
Genesis 3:15 – And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Later on, several men of God prophesied about the coming of the Son of Man who will be the Messiah of the world, especially of the Jewish race. Prominent of them are Moses, David, Isaiah, Micah and Daniel.

In Daniel 7: 13-14, Daniel prophesy that he saw the Son on Man, who has access and a very close relationship with the Almighty, which he referred to as the Ancient of Days.
Such that Daniel was even able to see beyond the first coming of the Son of Man – the Messiah, but also into His second coming.

Daniel 7:13-14 – I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him:his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

According to the scriptures, this prophecy tallied with the assignment of Jesus Christ, who will later come to reign on earth for a thousand years with great power, authority and peace.

There are many instances in the bible where Jesus was referred to as the Son of Man; and where He referred to Himself as the Son of Man.
The phrase ‘Son of Man’ in the Jewish understanding refers to Messiah whom God will send to deliver His people. So when Jesus spoke about Himself as the Son of Man; the Jewish people understood what He meant, even though the didn’t receive Him as such.

Jesus was and is that Son of God that became the Son of Man.

In the bible, God called Prophet Ezekiel the ‘Son of Man’ many times, obviously because he was born of man or by man. A son of man is unarguably a man.

However, it goes forward to mean that Jesus though a Son of God, the only begotten of the Father, and the firstborn among the resurrected saints, became a human being by coming in flesh.

John 1:1- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14 – And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Interestingly, we too were first created as sons and daughters of God; but later became sons and daughters of man.

Genesis 5:1-3 – This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:

For us to regain our position as sons and daughters of God; it was necessary for the first born of God to lay down His life and die; so that through His death and resurrection, we can be reconciled back to God as His sons and daughters.

Galatians 3:26 – For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Jesus was explaining to Nicodemus – the Pharisee, that for one to make it to heaven, there is only one way to follow – what Jesus called being ‘Born Again’. Jesus declared that having come from heaven, as the Son of God that became the Son of Man, He alone was in the best position to show man the way to heaven and God.

John 3:13And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

We have put today aside to sing special carols to appreciate the Son of God who left His unimaginable throne in heaven to become the Son of Man on earth for you and I. The only way, we can give Him the fulfilment of what He has done is to declare by way of confessional statement that Jesus the Messiah came in flesh; that the price of death He paid is for us; and that we are expecting His return.

How many believed this?
How many will like to say this confessional statement with me today?

Almighty Father, I acknowledge that your son Jesus Christ to came to this world in flesh. I humbly confess and repent of my sins (both committed and/or inherited). I ask that you please forgive me and write my name in the book of life.
Let your Spirit help me to wait righteously for your Son’s return or my coming home.
Let me see you in glory.

Thank you Father, for saving my soul, in Jesus name.

Congratulations & Merry Christmas in advance!
