TEXTS: ISAIAH 9: 6-7, Matthew 1:21

INTRODUCTION
The name Jesus is the same as Saviour. It is derived from the verb signifying to save. The Name Jesus is related to the Hebrew form of “Yehoshua”, which is the same as Joshua (the leader of the Jews into Canaan). In two places in the New Testament the name Jesus was used where it meant Joshua.
In Acts 7:45 (Stephen reciting the story of their forefathers).
“Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David”.
“For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day” Hebrews 4:8′
THE MAN JESUS: “THE BEGINNING AND THE END”
There has never been a time when He was not nor will there ever be a time when He will not be – The Name stands before, beyond and after all others. In the beginning was the Name (John 1:1), at the end will be the Name (Revelations 1:8, 22:3).
In the present all things depend upon the Name! Psalm 72:17 – His name shall endure forever!
“His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed”

THE NAME OF JESUS: “OUR SAVIOUR”
The Name of Jesus is the name of our saviour
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” Act 4:12

THERE IS NO OTHER NAME GIVEN TO MEN TO SAVE HIM FROM HIS WAYS, ONLY THE NAME OF JESUS IS MORE THAN SUFFICIENT TO RID MAN OF HIS WAYS.
Without this wonderful name, You and I will still be filled with our ways, we will be hopeless and wretched, but it is through the sacrifice of the cross, the shame, humility, the stripes (Isaiah 53:4-5) the death and the resurrection of Jesus (Matthew 27:33-37) we are empowered to live a victorious life, in peace and in hope in his unfailing nature. (Romans 5:1&5).

THE NAMES JESUS: “OUR ONLY ACCESS TO GOD”
It is only through this name Jesus that we have directly access to the throne of grace, because He is our only mediator (1 John 2:1-2) pleading on our behalf. Therefore, everyone of us may appear BOLDLY unto the throne of grace and ask for help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). The Name of Jesus is the only name, in heaven and on earth, whereby we may approach the Father and fellowship with the Trinity.

THE NAME OF JESUS: “EFFECTIVE IN PRAYER AND SERVICE”
The Name of Jesus is powerfully and authoritatively equipped to be effective in prayer and service.
• If we remember the lame man at the gate called beautiful? Whom Peter and John when they went up at the ninth hour to pray, healed through the name of Jesus.
“Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk”. [Act 3:6]
• In our personal life’s, the Name of Jesus is readily available and accessible to use when we enter in to prayer. Jesus Himself promised in
“And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son” ‘John 14:13’

IN CLOSING:
WE MUST UNDERSTAND AND EXERCISE THE POWER AND AUTHORITY THAT WE HAVE IN THAT NAME. (Proverbs 4:7)

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” Philippians 2:9-11.

PLEASE NOTE
WE MUST REMEMBER TO VALUE THIS WONDERFUL NAME IN ORDER FOR IT TO BE EFFECTIVE FOR US, AND THAT WE MAY BEAR ENDURING FRUITS THROUGH THIS POWERFUL NAME.
• In our conducts or actions, in our conversations with believers and unbelievers alike and in our thoughts.

CONCLUDE: “THE NAME JESUS
He is our Saviour, our redeemer, our master, our guide and our peace. He is our joy, our comfort, and our hope. He is our Lord, He is the ruler of our life’s. We serve Him because His bond is Love, His burden is light, and His goal for us is abundant life. We should follow Him because He is the wisdom of the wise, the power of the powerful, the ruler of rulers, the leader of leaders, the king of kings and the sovereign Lord, of all that was and is and is to come. Fellowship with Jesus is the greatest relationship a man could cultivate.
