May Jehovah Surprise You For Good, by Pastor (Mrs) Anthonia Obafaiye

The month of January 2017 has been declared a month of Surprise Motion by God Almighty through His Prophet as inspired by the Holy Spirit.

The Wikipedia Dictionary defined Surprise as ‘an unexpected or astonishing event’. Some other words we could use in the place of surprise are: astonish, amaze, startle, flabbergast, stop someone in their tracks (surprise motion) stupefying, leave open-mouthed, take someone’s breath away.

Brethren our God is a God of surprises. His surprise would be in the positive or negative, as we are going to find out from the message He has for us today. But My prayer for us is that Jehovah will surprise us for good in Jesus name.

I can’t say in what form God’s surprises will come for us, but one thing I know for sure with my little walk with Him, is that God is never late, He is always on time. If you do think He is late, it is because He wants to come big.

I will share a testimony with you, on the 1st of January 2017 God decided to surprise a Medical Doctor and his wife and He visited them for good and blessed them with 5 children (3 girls & 2 boys) after they had been married for 10 years, so for every 2 years of their waiting he blessed them with a child, isn’t our God, a God of Awesome wonders.

Jehovah will visit someone here for a good in Jesus name, He will surprise you beyond your imagination, dreams and what you have ever asked Him to give you in Jesus name.

Brethren come with me to the Book of Exodus 14:1-31

This is a story we are familiar with, a very interesting story I must say, a demonstration of the power of Jehovah The Man of War, Jehovah El Gibbor (The Mighty God) Jehovah Elyon (The Most High God) The match-less God, the God that no one can contend with, the God that has never lost any battle and will never lose any battle. He is your God and my God, He is our Maker, He is watching over us, He will surprise you for good in Jesus name. He will not put you to shame in Jesus name. On the Mount of Carmel in 1 Kings 18: 16-45 He did not put Elijah to shame before Baal & his prophets , so He will show up for you in Jesus name.

The children of Israel were making their way from Egypt to the Promised land (a land flowing with milk & honey) God had just delivered them from the hands of their Captors (The Egyptians) and they were making melody and rejoicing to their God and suddenly they looked up and they saw the mighty Red Sea and they looked behind them and they saw the Egyptians chasing after them with a fury. They began to panic, they began to curse Moses, why didn’t you just leave us to continue to serve these people, is it because there are no graves in Egypt, is that why you have brought us here to die in this wilderness.

Moses answered them ‘Fear ye not, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will show to you today, for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

The Lord is saying to someone here today, the enemies after you that you see today, ye shall see them no more in Jesus name.

The Bible says in the Isaiah 49:24-25 ‘ Shall the prey be taken from the mighty or the lawful captive delivered?

But thus saith the Lord, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee and I will save your children.’

In others words God is saying even if it was your fault that you became a captive of a captor, He says he will deliver you in Jesus name.

Brethren Moses continued by saying to the Israelites in Exodus 14:14 ‘The Lord shall fight for you and ye shall hold your peace.’

God instructed Moses to lift up his rod and stretch his hand over the sea and divide it and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

Brethren God surprised the children of Israel on that day like He had never done before, He fulfilled every promise He made to them on that day, He delivered them from the hands of their Captors (The Egyptians) they held their peace whilst the Lord fought for them and their enemies the Egyptians they did not see anymore because Jehovah The Man of War drown them all in Red Sea.

God used the Red Sea as an escape route for them (that’s the positive side of the surprise)

God used the Red Sea as a death trap for the Egyptians (that’s the negative side of the surprise)

The Bible says it is of the mercies of The Lord that we are not consumed. Often times we go past a particular path maybe driving, on being driven in a car or bus or even walking through a path and then just few minutes after you have gone past the path a terrible accident happens and people lose their lives, we are not better than them, it is just because of the mercies of the Lord, that is why you and I are not consumed.

Brethren there is no greater surprise that can be compared to the one you receive when you find yourself between the devil and the Red Sea, you look up, you look down, you look all around you but help is not coming and suddenly when you think all hope is lost, Jehovah The Man of War shows up for you and your deliverance comes. There is no sweeter feeling compared to this.

No wonder The Sweet Psalmist of Israel (David the Son of Jesse) said in Psalm 121:1-2 ‘I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help comes from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.’

Brethren vain is the help of man, the arm of flesh will always fail, if man helps you it is because God instructed him to do so. May our trust and focus always be on God, for He is the only one that cannot fail.

The children of Israel were crying to a mere man like them, Moses could not do anything of his own accord, He had to cry unto God in prayer and God answered him.

Brethren in the Book of Luke 11:12-32, we find an account of a man that had 2 sons and one day the younger son came to him and said Father give me the portion of my inheritance. His Father obliged him and he packed up and left home. He went to a far country and wasted his inheritance on riotous living. He began to live in penury and when he remembered that no servant in his Father’s house was living the way he was, he came to his senses and he said, ‘I will arise and go to my Father, and I will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before thee, and am no more worthy to be called thy son, make me as one of thy hired servants.’

The bible recorded that before he decided to come home, the Father had been going out every day trying to see if he could sight him coming back home. So the day he set off for home, his father was watching out for him, when he saw him, he had compassion on him and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him, the Bible said whilst he was reciting his speech to his Father, he commanded for the best robe to be put on him, a ring on his hand and shoes on his feet. His Father accepted him as his Son and not a servant, what a pleasant surprise it was for The Prodigal Son.

The second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ will be a pleasant surprise for some and it will not be Pleasant for some, as Believers, even though we know He is coming back, the surprise is that we don’t know when(the exact time) He will be coming back.

May His coming not be like a thief in the night for us.

May He find us waiting, watching and praying in Jesus name.

Prayer:

Father, Almighty Father, the grace to please you like never before in this New year grant unto me in Jesus name.

My Father, My Father, please when you are calling on others do not pass me by in Jesus name

Father, let the Surprise you will bless me with shock my enemies in Jesus name.

Father the anointing & grace to make un-imaginable progress in this year 2017 pour upon my head in Jesus name.
