Anchor scriptures 1 John 1:5, 2 Corinthians 4:6

A light bearer is a person who has emerged out of darkness and now in full awareness of the knowledge of the glory of God, through Christ Jesus.

Attributes of a light bearer

  1. A person that must have separated himself/herself from any form of darkness

(I.e. wickedness, all sorts of evil)

“And God separated Light from darkness” Genesis 1:4b

Also, Ephesians 5:11, 2 Corinthians 6:14, 17a

  1. Someone that embraces the love of God;

Matthew 22 :37-38

Love the lord your God with all your heart, the first and greatest commandment

1 John 1:6 – God himself is Love

  1. A person that constantly study the word of God; It enhances knowledge

Proverbs 2: 1-5

  1. A carrier of God’s presence

Deuteronomy 31:6 – God was with Joshua

Judges 6: 16 – God was with Gideon, despite the fact that his clan was the weakest in Manasseh. He was picked to deliver the Israelites from oppressions of the Midianites.

  1. The light must be seen by others: John 12:41, 44-45 Act 4:13,

“Shall we light a lamp and put it under a bowl? Instead we put it on its stand so it gives light to everyone” Mathew 5:14-16

Responsibilities of light bearers

  1. To shine; Isaiah 60:1

  2. To bear fruits; John 15:16

a, your life must preach the gospel: Colossians 3:17

b, you must go out and preach the gospel; Mark 16:15

Benefits of being a light bearer

  1. The steps of a light bearer are ordered, that is, a constant direction from God

Isaiah 30:21, John 12:49.

  1. Will always pull through, regardless of the situation. John 1:5a

  2. An assurance of sonship; Romans 8:14, 16

Also, the fruits of the spirit as stated in Galatians 5:22-23

However, a major quench of this light is “sin” John 3:19-20

“Shall we continue in Sin and pray that grace should abound? By no means”. Romans 6:1

The devil is associated with darkness (all sorts of evil, and sin) and our major prosecutor 1 Peter 5:8-9. Therefore, I challenge us to do away with all forms of evil and be a light bearer. “Hate what is evil and cling to what is good” Romans 12:9b

Michael .J. Wilkins said, “It is only through the light of God in Jesus Christ that darkness can be dispelled”.

Thus, “If we claim to have fellowship with him, yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus purifies us from all sin”. 1 John 1: 6-7
