June 2022 Theme: Jehovah Immeku (The Lord Is With You)

Right from creation, the Almighty God has always wanted to be physically present with His people. In the Garden of Eden, we learnt that Jehovah would come down in the cool of the day to spend time with Adam and Eve (Gen. 3: 8).

We further read in the scriptures that God demonstrated His physical presence with people like Enoch (Gen. 5: 22-24); Abraham (Gen. 17: 1-7); Isaac (Gen. 26: 2-24); Jacob (Gen. 28: 12-15); Moses (Ex. 3: 4-12); Joshua (Jos. 1: 1-9); the Israelites (Ex. 13: 20-22); Mary (Lk. 1: 26-38); etc.

In the fulness of time, God later sent His own begotten Son – Jesus Christ to reside among men (Gal. 4: 4-5). He came to His own first and lived among them (Jn. 1: 11-14).

Jesus told His followers that even though He would soon go away physically; He would however ask the Holy Spirit to always abide with them wherever they are until the end of age (Mt. 28: 18-20). He further assured them that He will never leave nor forsake them (Jn. 14: 18-21); that He will protect them from harm (Mk. 16: 18); and that He will even use them to do exploits in His name (Mk. 16: 17-20).

One of the interesting stories of men who enjoyed the presence of Jehovah in the Bible was a man called Gideon. In Judges 6: 11-17, God sent His angel to Gideon to assure him of His presence and by that reason, Gideon was able to defeat the host of Midian together with vast armies from the East, with just 300 men who went to war with only trumpet, torchlight and pitchers (Judges 7: 1-25).

As we prepare to enter this sixth month of the year, what God kept saying to me was ‘I am with you always’, which can be translated to mean ‘Jehovah Immeku’. God is further assuring us therefore that His Spirit will always abide with us; that He will not leave nor forsake us; that He will protect us from evil and harm; and that He will use us to do further exploits in His name to His glory. May the zeal of Yahweh, the Ever-present God make these happen in our lives and in our midst in Jesus mighty name.
