God Has Done Us Well, by Pastor Samuel Obafaiye

This is a month to thank God. A month to appreciate Him for what He has done and is doing. The eight month of this year. Our testimony can only be that God has done us well.

There are several attributes of God, e.g.: goodness, loving, kindness, merciful, gracious, etc. The disposition of God regarding a man can however be in three ways: God can be for a man; neutral to him or be against him.

For example, the tribe of Ephraim exemplify these three dispositions of God:

– God was for him (Gen. 48:8-11). Jacob crossed hands to bless him.

– God became neutral to him (Hosea 4:17). Joined themselves to idols, God left.

– God was against him (Hosea 9:11-17). God will cast them away.

God again reminded me over the past few weeks how much of His special favours we are enjoying. He said ‘Son, I have done you well, and I will continue to do so’.

God can decide to favour anyone in an unprecedented manner. God can identify a good deed the person has done and capitalise on it to favour the person extraordinarily.

God swore to Abraham that He will seriously bless him, for he obeyed God to sacrifice the only son he had.

Hezekiah was a king highly favoured by God. He did well in the sight of God, unlike some of the kings that reigned before him. God used this good deed to treat him very well. He was made to enjoy the tenure of his reign.

During the reign of Hezekiah, king Sennacherib of Assyria came to wage war against Judah. Judah was not a match for Assyria, but God was good to Judah. He proclaimed that those on their side are more than the enemies. It was just an angel from God that killed 189,000 of Sennacherib choicest soldiers in one night! When he saw this, he ran to the temple of his god, only to be killed by his own sons.

2 Chronicles 32:1-7

After these things, and the establishment thereof, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to win them for himself. And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem, He took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which were without the city: and they did help him. So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water? Also he strengthened himself, and built up all the wall that was broken, and raised it up to the towers, and another wall without, and repaired Millo in the city of David, and made darts and shields in abundance. And he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spake comfortably to them, saying, Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:

2 Chronicles 32:21-23

And the Lord sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword. Thus the Lord saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side. And many brought gifts unto the Lord to Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah: so that he was magnified in the sight of all nations from thenceforth.

God treated Hezekiah very well. That same God will treat you well.

God is good to all.

Psalm 145:9

The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.

But He gives special attention to those who trust in Him.

Nahum 1:7

The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

David is someone that God was very good to. He declared this all the time without reservation.

Psalm 13:6

I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

Psalm 126:3

The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

Psalms 92:4

For thou, Lord, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

Psalm 40:5

Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us- ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

From being the youngest of eight sons, in Israel custom, his inheritance would have been very small. However, not only did he become the number one in his father house, clan or city. He became the number one in his whole nation! God still made him a terror to nations surrounding Israel.

There is someone here; God will make you a national figure.

Someone is here, when you say God is good, people will say they agree. Your life will speak of that goodness.

God was very good to Solomon. Just like his father David, Solomon was treated specially by God. Though he had about six elder brothers, yet he was favoured more than his brothers. He sat on the throne after his father at the age of 20 years.

I Kings 3:6-7

And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

Someone here will be amazingly elevated by God.

God will take you to a level that you wouldn’t or normally have occupied.

God was extremely good to Moses. Born at a time when male children were been killed by Pharaoh. He didn’t only survive, he was rescued by Pharaoh’s daughter, trained and nursed at the expense of Pharaoh and grew up in the palace of the person that wanted him killed.

God invested so much power upon Moses life. Despite his mistake at the Waters of Meribah, God made sure he didn’t miss Paradise.

You are here; people have planned your downfall. I hear God says, you will ride on their backs.

To someone, God says, “I will use the same people that wanted you removed to announce your arrival and welcome you”.

How surprisingly God dealt very well with Daniel. A captive in a foreign land became the next person to king Nebuchadnezzar. He did not just reign under one king, but four. All plots against him under these kings were overruled by God.

Daniel 5:10-13

Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed: There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers; Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar:now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation. Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry?

Daniel 6:28

So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

I have a word from God for someone, you will not be dethroned.

God will cancel all plots against you.

You will be sought after by kings and nobles in Jesus name.

God has done us well in this Assembly. Last weekend, we celebrated our 9th Anniversary. To the glory of God, as a church, God has elevated us both in RCCG and amongst all other ministries far above where we could have been. This can only be by the special favours of God. We are a marvel to those that hear about or know us. I even hear God says, He will do much more. Herewith, the scripture in I Cor 1:26-29 is fulfilled regarding us.

1 Corinthians 1:26-29

For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.

As individuals, God has done us really well. Many times, we focus on what we haven’t received. God however has done us well.

Psalm 103:1-6

Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

Are there more things you require in life? God is able to supply. May He deliver beyond your imaginations in Jesus name.

Prayers

Psalm 105: 37

Father, bless me with gold and silver in surplus.

Father, remove all forms of feebleness from me. Let me be very healthy.

Father, ensure that I have a testimony this month.

Joshua 6:7

And he said unto the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of the Lord.

Father, in this new month, let me advance into your purpose for my life.

Exodus 3:7-8

And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

Father, look upon my Afflictions and hear my cry.

Father, take my destiny to a glorious place.

Father, put darkness before all those that are chasing after me, so I can escape long before they see.

Father, destroy the wheels of those aiming for my life, so that they become stationary.
