Divine Compensation, by Pastor Gbadebo Lawal

Text: Matthew 19: 27-28 – “Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?”  Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Brethren; there is nothing you leave for God that is been wasted. There are two Key words that are been identified; Divine and Compensation.

What is Divine? Something pertaining to the things of God, something beautiful and heavenly, divine deals with heavenly things.

What is Compensation? The act or principle of compensating, It denotes settlement; it could mean a reward for obedience for greater injunction. A good example of reward is Malachi 3: 8-12.

Brethren, the surest way of a believer to be rewarder is when you pay your tithes correctly not 50% but 100%. Despite the fact that I was working in a bank, I was doing a business on the side and I refused to pay tithes on that business, as a result my business suffered a lot, even though I was paying tithes on my salary. Later I learnt my lesson and I started to pay my tithes; now I pay more than 15% and I receive the benefit, God has been blessing me.

In Malachi 3:9, the Lord said “curse will I curse you if you rob me”. A junior Pastor may curse you and you go to senior Pastor to pray for you; with lots of anointing it will be removed and you are blessed but when God curses you; who will you run to. You are laying foundation when you pay your tithes. The Lord said I will pour you a blessing.

There are different types of blessings; when you say you want to be rich you will have, but no left over. When you are wealthy, you have but little left in your bank account. When you are flourishing, you are blessing unto others, like Isaac in Genesis 26; even the Philistines they envied him. Once you can obey the principles of giving God will compensate you. In Luke 6:38- it says “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

The same way you give, you receive, do not tighten your hands and know how to spread your income. Daddy said something during the Solemn Assembly that even when things were hard he used to give N1 million as offering. You want the blessing, the blessing are there, it is for you to do and follow the principles. I thought about it and every year I increase my offering and God has never disappointed me, when you have a covenant with God Almighty, He will do more for you. You need to give when you want God to compensate you.

What of evangelism and follow up? If you do evangelism and follow up you are building your future. Your phone is a tool for evangelism and follow up.

John 15 :16, Jesus says, You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.

I came to Church not because I wanted to, my brother had a problem; he was very sick and the Redeem Church was recommended to me by my Uncle who attends Baptist. On the 13/12 /1975, I went to Redeem Church and I was been prayed for every morning. Later, my brother got healed and passed all his exams. After I received my miracle I stopped going to church. However, I thank God for our father in the Lord; Pastor Adeboye was living close to my house then, he always visited me, whether I was in the house or not and one day I decided to visit the Church and that was how I got arrested and God has been faithful since then.

Divine Compensation could mean a result, a reward for your abilities or inputs, is a reward from God alone nobody else can give you Divine ideas or Divine prosperity. For example Joseph in Genesis 39, despite all the things; the wife of his Master wanted to have him but Joseph said how can I do these things and offend my God, he was in prison for a while as a result. However, Joseph was faithful to his Master and he was promoted even in prison. Do not be discouraged no matter what you go through, people will always discourage you but don’t discourage yourself. Anything that happens to you is not by accident, God knows, it might just be a test of faith.

In Luke 5:1-11 also, Peter was a fisher man. He had been fishing all through the night but as Jesus was passing bye He entered into Peter’s boat and started preaching. After the Lord had used his boat, Jesus Christ told him to launch his boat and he caught lots of fishes. No matter where you are, even if you are among millions God can still single you out.

Also, the life of David was a good example. David served his father faithfully with no reward. When God spoke to Samuel to anoint the sons of Jesse, God told Samuel not to look at the physical but the heart. God does not use lazy people, Gods work needs urgency. David that has been forgotten became the King over his brothers. There is an appointed time for Divine compensation, yours is properly closer than you think; don’t give up.

1 Kings 17: 8-17, the story of the widow of Zarephath and Elijah, she had almost given up when Elijah came but she obeyed the man of God and untimely death was cancelled.

There was a secret I used when I left my work with the Bank, When I left the bank the salary I was been given in church was like 10% of the salary I was receiving in the Bank but I had a call from God and I looked at my father in the Lord; and I said to myself if these man doesn’t have machine to make money and he gives like this, then I would one day. There is testimony of our father in the Lord that he was giving people ties and he noticed that people were coming from overseas and giving him ties, then he started giving cars and he began to receive cars. What you give you will receive, with the same measure. The law of reciprocal that is why I know I can never be poor.

Anyone that is barren here, the next time I visit here you will bring your children in Jesus name. God of Elisha is a God of compensation. In 2 Kings 2: 15, when everybody was telling Elisha that your Master would soon be taking away from you, Elisha said “I know”, but Elisha stayed put because he knew what he wanted. When you come to church, always face your business, don’t follow the crowd.

Genesis 18:1-15, Abraham entertain 3 angels and God blessed him with Isaac. It is good to give because you will always be blessed in return.

What can I do to have Divine compensation?

  1. You need to be born again, do not carry your sin about
  2. Obedience to Gods way
  3. Faithfulness and focus on God

As Joseph was remembered at the appointed time God will remember you. There is nothing you give to God that God will not compensate you. God will bless and Divinely compensate you in Jesus name Amen.
