Bible Text: Matthew 21 and Matthew 15
Luke 10:17 – “The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”
There is power in the name of Jesus but we do not use it rightly. Likewise, there is more to celebrate than victory over demons. The most important achievement is for your name to be written in the book of life.  However, to enjoy unhindered advancements, there is a way to pray.
Matthew 15:21-28 explains the faith of a Canaanite woman who had a daughter who was terribly sick. Note in verse 22 -. 22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.”
23 Jesus did not answer a word. So, his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.” then verse 24 –   Jesus spoke again …
24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” With emphasis on verse 25- 25 The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said. –  The woman was desperate to receive and she believed only Jesus can help her; she asked for help.  Then the Lord replied – 26 He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” 27 “Yes, it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” 28 Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment.
The bible is very explicit even if we do not understand it. There are prayers we pray that God cannot say No to and when we make these prayers in faith we get unhindered advancement:
  1. Prayer of Mercy
  2. Prayer of help
Another instance was when Peter was sinking when he attempted to walk on water, he cried out “Lord help me …”.  Some people are trying to get something done, no matter how difficult it may be or whether you are trying to do the project for the first time, The Lord is willing to help.  All you need to do is cry for help.  Our God does not have mercy; He is merciful that is mercy personified.
In Matthew 15, the first 2 times the Lord replied he did not reply the woman personally but in verse 28 he replied her … “this is significant because it sounded like the Lord was soliloquizing or trying to justify why he wouldn’t help and why he would help her.
In Luke 15, the prodigal son after squandering all that his father had given him came back asking for mercy. His father was waiting on him and happy to see him. This parable depicts how God loves us and awaits our arrival every time we stray. When we are in need, he is just waiting for us to ask.
Also, Mark 10: 46-52. Jesus went to Jericho but on his way, out of Jericho, he heard a man, “Blind Bartimaeus was shouting “O lord son of David, have mercy on me ….”. the striking thing is blind man was not close to Jesus but the Lord heard.
47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
Suddenly Jesus stopped amidst the crowd, heaven stopped, time stopped to the call for mercy – how did Jesus hear?  because of “Mercy”, nobody ever asks for mercy and not get it.
Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”
“So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. 51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” 52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

Daniel 2 tells the story of king Nebuchadnezzar who had a dream but forgot the dream. The king wanted someone to tell him his dream and interpret it.  The dream troubled the king but he could not remember it He called his magicians but none could tell him his dream because it was not humanly possible to do this.  The King had ordered that any magician unable to tell him his dream and interpret be executed. The verse 16- 18 Daniel asked his friends to call on God to have mercy that the dream maybe known.
“At this, Daniel went in to the king and asked for time, so that he might interpret the dream for him.
17 Then Daniel returned to his house and explained the matter to his friends Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. 18 He urged them to plead for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that he and his friends might not be executed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon”
If ever you want to ask God for anything unhindered ask for mercy and the help of God.
Prayer: Those who are attacking my glory are numerous, father please help me and have mercy upon me.
As you experience the mercy and help of God worship the Lord continually for absolute victory-2 Chronicles 20:1-10.
